I got this for camping. It seems pretty thick, which is good (although it is also quite firm), but the main problem is that it seems to me the outer surface is quite "slippery" (the plastic-y surface has little grip so a sleeping bag slides over it) & "noisy" (hard to explain, but does not help much with sleep). It would surely have been really quite easy in the design stage to have noticed and resolved both of these issues, hence only giving it 2 stars. Sorry.
